Liam Ó Briain was a member of the Volunteers of Ireland from 1914, and he fought with the Citizen Army of Ireland in the College of Surgeons during Easter Week 1916.
This memoir gives a glimpse of Liam’s life from his early childhood and youth. Through those years after the Easter Rising in 1916 until 1921 when the Anglo-Irish Treaty was signed and the Irish Free State was created.
He was Professor of Romance Languages in Galway University from 1917 until he retired in 1959, and had many interests in culture and theatre. The Irish language was very dear to his heart and he spent his life imparting his knowledge to the next generation.
